The Tri-Explorer Challenge
The first Tri-explorer challenge took place on Sunday, 14th June. Three teams of four Explorer Scouts represented their units: K2, Northstar and Elements ESUs.
Their task was to navigate a 7.5 km hike, followed by a 15 km cycle ride, before finishing with a 5 km paddle.
In addition to the physical aspect, they had to find markers along the route to prove they had followed the grid references provided.
Put together the clues, being explorers had to be more challenging, and they spelt out:
-
- ‘victori spolia’ (to the victor the spoils)
- ‘quam bene vivas referre, non quam diu’ (It matters how well you live, not how long)

The winners of the inaugural event were the K2 Explorers with a time of 4 hrs 34 mins.
The event would not have been possible without the support of the leaders and the water team. Thank you, everybody.
