Key Details

General Information

  • There are 3 pitches at Rowley Park we will be using, these are situated within the sports track. You can access these by gates on either side.
  • From the car parking area looking at the pitches, pitch 1 is to the left, pitch 2 is in the middle and pitch 3 is to the right.
  • The registration and scoring table will be to the right of pitch 3.
  • We suggest teams arrive 15 minutes early to check in and to be made aware of any changes.
  • There are changing rooms on site to use and also a shop that sells refreshments.

Competition Format

  • Find attached the format for the competition for both Cubs and Scouts. This will comprise two groups where the winner and runners-up will qualify for the Semifinal. The winners of the Semi Final will progress to the Final.
  • Group games are 5 minutes each without a break.
  • The semifinals are 7 minutes without a break.
  • The final is 2 halves of 5 minutes.
  • Group Games will be in a league format where each team will play other teams in their group once.
  • They will earn 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.
  • If there is a tied point score, then ranking will be determined initially by goal difference if there remains a tie it will be then determined by the number of goals a team has scored. Following this, if there remains a tie a penalty shootout will take place.
  • If teams drop out, we may change the format at the last minute so that it’s as fair as it can be. A paper update of the format will be attached to each pitch and available at the sign-in table.
  • There will be a short presentation following the finals.

Rules

  • Standard small-sided football FA rules are attached, games will follow these rules.
  • The tournament is 6 a side, which will comprise 1 goalkeeper and 5 outfield players on the pitch at one time.
  • There is no head height restriction.
  • Teams may have an unlimited number of substitutes and operate a rolling substitution format.
  • For outfield players substitutions should be completed in a break of play. There is no need to alert the referee however you must maintain a maximum of 5 outfield players at any one time. If a substitute interferes with play, then in the first instance a free kick will be rewarded to the opposite side. However, if the rule is broken again and the referee feels this is to gain an advantage then he may award the game to the opposition by a 3-nil victory.
  • For the semifinals if the game is tied at the end of 7 minutes the game will be decided by penalties, there will be no extra time.
  • In the final, if the game is tied at the end of 10 minutes, the game will be decided by penalties, and there will be no extra time.
  • Outfield players can enter the goalkeeper’s rectangle area
  • If the ball is handled by the defensive team inside the area a penalty will be awarded.
  • If the goalkeeper handles the ball outside the area, then a direct free kick is awarded.

Spirit of the Game

  • This is a Scouting competition and is hoped to be fun for competitors.
  • This is to encourage Scouts who perhaps don’t regularly play football to have a go as well as those who enjoy football to compete.
  • Referees will support Scouts to get the best out of the game in the spirit of Scouting.
  • Abuse of referees, leaders, organisers and indeed Scouts will not be tolerated. Any complaints can be made directly to the organisers who will consider the response however no outcome decided by the referee will be changed.

Any questions…?

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
